The Fling - Ghost Dance EP

There are huge bands around with such unique sounds. They do have their own signature for that particular thing. But it’s the most stupid decision to listen to them at the wrong time. For example, how could somebody listen to Depeche Mode at 9:30 AM? God’am! It only takes a freak. Or how could possibly somebody listen to Tool when he’s about to fly to Thailand and have a little you-know-what-they-do-in-Thailand! Well, this new 4-piece from Long Beach California will remain an exception to that what-n-when rule as long as they play these easy-listening simple yet cohesive alt-rock tunes and as long as Graham Lovelis and his mates stretch out their voice in such leisure. They’re out with their first EP called Ghost Dance and they’re about to come up with their first debut this year (remember Fleet Foxes and how they made it the way it should with the very policy). And as influences, I can actually hear a lot of things in this 5 piece. Yeah, they play an eclectic mixture of both contemporary and classic gems from Travis to those four guys from Liverpool; it also sometimes reminds me of when the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club went down on 2005’s Howl. The Fling sounds like all of them and doesn’t sound like them at all. No “Get Back” is not that Jojo song at all, there are no covers here. All the five songs found here on Ghost Dance are comprehensively satisfying. You can actually put your player on loop and never wonder why it’s taking too long because I guess these guys perform out of the scope of anything boring or disturbing. “Lonely Fool” is my personal favorite and it brings me some nostalgic thoughts. Wait for the LP thing to come out and listen without prejudice, please. Stop that disgusting talk of “this is this and this is that” and “little bit of this and little bit of that”. Good luck to you guys.
